zero dark thirty
A chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May, 2011.
Zero Dark Thirty is a gripping and intelligent thriller. It's riveting stuff. It opens with a brutal and realistic torture scene with a man being interrogated, forced to tell infomation about the whereabouts of Osama Bin Ladin. Jessica Chastain plays Maya, a young CIA officer on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Chastain's strong performance may win herself an Oscar for Best Actress. Warrior's Joel Edgerton is excellent as Patrick, the Red Squadron Team Leader who goes on the mission to kill Bin Laden. Everyone in this is fantastic. Mark Strong and James Gandolfini are great, even though their characters are criminally underused. Also the sound is just incredible. I jumped whenever there was an explosion or soldiers breaching doors open. It's just such an intriguing story. Some people are calling Zero Dark Thirty propaganda. It's not propaganda. Not at all. Even though you know how it all ends, the suspense of the last thirty minutes will have you on the edge of your seat. I was trying to decide weather this is a four star movie or a five star movie. But damn those last scenes, I gotta give It five. Lets hope this streak of quality flicks recently will continue.
