The Artist
A silent movie star meets a young dancer, but the arrival of talking pictures sends their careers in opposite directions.
I'm not a big fan of silent movies, but The Artist caught my attention after recieving universal acclaim from critics and winning seven awards at the Oscars. I was wondering weather this was something great or just gimmicky Oscar bait. It completely blew away all my expectations. The Artist is one of the most enjoyable movies of the year. Jean Dujardin gives an amazing performance as George Valentin, a silent film star who's career crashes into the ground when silent movies are out of fashion and replaced by the talkies. There's never a boring moment because It moves at such a fast pace and sucks you in from start to finish. My only criticism is at times I couldn't buy this as a silent movie whenever James Cromwell and John Goodman were onscreen. I love The Artist and would tell everyone to see it.
