avengers: age of ultron
When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and it is up to the Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is a spectacular, action-packed blockbuster epic that nearly lives up to the hype. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye return and are now up against Ultron (voiced by James Spader) an artificial intelligence discovered by Tony Stark who believes he must destroy humanity to save the Earth. The tone isn't as dark and serious as you might expect. Joss Whedon hasn't lost his funny bone. You should already know by now, the cast fit effortlessly into their roles. Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man. Chris Evans is Captain America.
But Avengers: Age of Ultron has problems. The romantic sub-plot between Bruce Banner and Black Widow felt forced. The magic of seeing all these heroes come together on screen for the first time is gone. But I can't fault the movie for that because it's inevitable. The extended climax is familiar, and there is little sense of danger for the Avengers, but I was having such a great time I didn't care. Age of Ultron gave me almost everything I wanted from an Avengers sequel. It's bigger than the first film, but not better. Marvel fans should be satisfied.
