foxcatcher
The greatest Olympic Wrestling Champion brother team joins Team Foxcatcher lead by multimillionaire sponsor John E. du Pont as they train for the 1988 games in Seoul - a union that leads to unlikely circumstances.
Foxcatcher, the riveting true-crime sports drama about wrestling, inherited wealth and America is brilliant. The third film by Moneyball and Capote director Bennett Miller. Olympic wrestling Champion brother team Mark (Channing Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) are sponsored by multimillionaire John E. du Pont (Steve Carell). The Schultz brothers and Team Foxcatcher coached by John, train in the private wrestling facility on the du Pont Pennsylvania estate for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The tension slowly builds up to it's shocking climax.
Carell, Tatum and Ruffalo knock it out of the park. Steve Carell, almost unrecognizable as John du Pont, gives a transformative performance. Carell's done serious before, but not like this. He's creepy as hell. Channing Tatum's outstanding dramatic turn as Mark Schultz transcends his previous roles. Mark Ruffalo is excellent as Mark's older brother Dave. A great screenplay by E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman. It's a horrible, bizarre and very sad story. Foxcatcher is incredible.
