Dark Shadows
An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.
Dark Shadows is an okay movie. The movie starts out great with Barnabas Collins cursed by a witch, turning him into a vampire and burying him alive for two centuries. After that, Tim Burton drops the ball by switching the dark gothic tone to a stupid cartoonish over-the-top comedy. Most of the cast is underused. Jonny Lee Miller, Helena Bonham Carter and Jackie Earl Haley are barely used. Michelle Pfeiffer tries hard, but the only person who can save this movie is Johnny Depp. The visuals look pretty on the big screen, and some of Depp's lines are funny which was just enough to keep me entertained. In the end, Tim Burton fans will probably enjoy this, just don't expect Sweeney Todd or Edward Scissorhands.
