The Smurfs
When the evil wizard Gargamel chases The Smurfs out of their village, they tumble into New York City. The Smurfs meet Patrick and Grace who they live with until all of them find a way to get back home before Gargamel tracks them down.
The Smurfs isn't a horrible movie. The cast actually did a pretty good job. Neil Patrick Harris was fine and Hank Azaria as Gargamel was the funniest part of the movie. It starts out okay with The Smurfs in Smurf Village, and then they travel to New York which we've seen this story a hundred times before. The problem with all these live-action cartoon movies is they try to make the characters hip for all the youngsters, instead of them just been themselves. Katy Perry, as the voice of Smurfette, also had to make a crowbared reference about one of her songs. Kids will probably enjoy this, but parents will want to kill themselves. It's a movie that will just make your children want things. Guitar Hero in particular. Out of movies like Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield, I would prefer this one. That's not saying much though.
