poltergeist
A family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces must come together to rescue their youngest daughter after the apparitions take her captive.
I've never seen the original 1982 Poltergeist, but this is just plain terrible. The Bowen family (Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino, Kyle Catlett and Kennedi Clements) move into a suburban home that turns out to be haunted by evil spirits.
Why does almost every new horror movie released have to be so dumb and boring? First of all, it's not scary, not even remotely. If you find loud noises and squirrels jumping out of closets terrifying, I couldn't recommend the Poltergeist remake to you more. Kyle Catlett and Kennedi Clements play the two youngest Bowen siblings, Griffin and Madison, and their acting was so bloody awful, I almost threw up.
It's like the child actors' roles were written for adults. Whenever Catlett tries to say lines like "I just want my sister back" or "We don't want a reality TV show" in a serious voice, it comes across as laughably bad and cringey. Sam Rockwell is an incredibly talented actor. He's the best thing about this garbage and deserves to star in a much better film. Avoid.
